A third-year medical student on an internal-medicine rotation is sent to the emergency
department to see a new patient admitted for abdominal pain. On her way, she starts
to develop her differential diagnosis, works through the questions she will ask, and
considers how she can effectively present the patient to her team on rounds. As part
of her presentation, she suggests that the team order an abdominal CT with contrast.
