Teleradiology is one of the most successful applications of telemedicine (

), as it can enable the rapid interpretation of imaging in remote areas and improve
the equitable distribution of imaging services in developing countries (

). It is a systematic stop-gap solution to a region's low local numbers of skilled
radiologists (

). It is implemented in countries to various extents, but the ethical issues of confidentiality,
security, maintenance of the patient-professional relationship and legal implications
are complex and still under development (
